A simple homemade pound cake with a light drizzle of Nutella. It’s been a hit in our family and with friends because it’s perfect for teatime or light snacking but also serves well as a comforting yet decadent dessert.
Preheat oven to 175°C. Line an 8-inch square baking tray with parchment paper.
Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder together.
Beat the butter and sugar together till fluffy and light in colour.
Gradually add eggs, beating well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla.
Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir until just blended.
Pour the batter into the pan and tap the pan gently so that the batter settles evenly.
Drizzle the Nutella over the batter and use a toothpick to swirl it in.
Bake for about 40 minutes or till the toothpick comes out clean.
Let it cool before inverting it onto a plate.
Tastes best when warmed slightly.
